im not mocking them for being successful, im mocking them because they were one of my favorite bands, they fucking rocked, they played straight up good ole fashioned west coast skate punk, hence they already were
successful.......and then they started dressing like A.F.I. and wearing eye makeup. fucking EYE MAKEUP!. i dont care that their music evolved. that happens when a band matures over time. however, i DO care that they are trying to fit into some sort of mainstream hot topic image.

Left Half Vs Right Half is a stadium concert staple. It's as old as time itself. If you don't like it, stick to seeing bands in small venues.

"Uh-oh, left side, sounds like the right side is a little bit wilder!! Let's see if you can make some noise!!! I thought Worcester was the rockinest town in the country?!?"

i agree it is BUT it's not usually done during and between EVERY song.

I dunno if I could get that upset about eyeliner in any circumstance ever. But that's just me. And, for the record, I love Green Day like I love breathing. So take that with a pound of salt.

So what you're saying is you care more about the image than about the music?

no, im saying that i care that THEY care about their image. they didnt wear eyeliner before, why start now? it just makes me feel like they arent confident enought in their music to let it speak for itself, they have to draw attention to themselves and their music by putting emphasis on what they look like instead of what they play.

Except their last album was the best thing they ever did. Also, I think it's nearly impossible for you to find a band that DOESN'T care about their image. I can't think of one off the top of my head. Even the ones that say they don't care are trying to project an image that they don't want to project an image.

Harsh but true. It's not so much the banter that I object too, but it's the fact they have been using the same scripted banter for years now. And the same set list. It's all too predictable.

Agh, it breaks my music lovin' heart.

i guess what im trying to say is that it breaks my heart that an amazing punk band that i grew up with, who has established themselves years ago as an awesome band, feels that its in their interests to adopt the same image as the crappy pop-emo-metal-core-hot-topics-garbage bands that are all the rage with 15 high school girls, to keep up with the scene. i mean, shit...they helped create the scene 20 years ago! the music was always great and weve always loved them. who are they trying to impress now?!

Because any of you at the age of 35 wouldn`t want to dress up a little more presentable and put on a little make up (as you have for the past 15 years) to save your career after putting out 2 shit albums (Nimrod and Warning)? You can`t knock them for wanting to keep their asses in the game. Also, given the chance, none of you would want to sing your album to death for a year to keep the money rolling in? right.
