so, the night before i had this dream that all my stuff was stolen and sold to a pawn shop. So i go to the pawn shop and tell them that the stuff is mine, and to give it back to me because it is FUCKING mine. Then they proceed to BREAK my possessions as I watch, helpless to intervene. I awoke in a horrible sweat, and a few tears if i recall.

so, i make a checklist of stuff i MUST take to my live show at the local indie record shop called CDX - once my haunt and now defunct. so i get up there about an hour early so i can set up, and ten minutes before my set i realize i forgot my FUCKING power strip. So i have to run home (a 15-minute drive) to get them, and from there and back were three fucking auto accidents on the same road, so i get at my show about 30 minutes late.

Thankfully, my friend had set up the equipment for me, however, throughout my set my set cut out twice, because the power strip was put on a wobbly board onstage that, when stepped on, would cut my power. D'oH! So I literally couldn't move for an hour during my set.

And last but not least, I tried to record it on a shoebox recorder, but thanks to the cheap dollar store cassettes i got, i only managed to retrieve 20 to 30 minutes of the set before the tape's poor manufacturing distorted the rest of it.

So, about 10 people ended up coming, and they all had their own unique criticism. I made some stickers at Kinko's to sell for a buck a piece, but i ended up dropping them to a quarter after my show, which lasted about an hour.

*gasp*

High school talent show, singing the Radiohead song "True Love Waits." I had to stop playing twice because I lost my tempo, and ended the song halfway through the second verse because I forgot the words in my stage fright.

But I managed to crack a few jokes about it before I left the stage, so what was a miserable failure as a music performance somehow became a moderate success as a comedy routine. whatever

I think it was the 7th grade yearbook signing. I was singing and I forgot all the words to our songs.

The first gig of the band I'm in now was a pretty friendly experience. Our gigs usually are. There have been a few awkward bar shows, but the audience is awkward and we're just fucking around. Some people at bars can be pretty funny.

first (and only) gig was in a music practice room about 5'x10'. There were 20 or so people turned up, so it was reeeally cramped and hot. We didn't have any titles for our songs, so we came up with some random ones 5 minutes before hand, but i forgot them all, and had to keep asking "which song is that? is that the slow one?". Afterwards a guy completely off his head on E told me we were amazing.

nervous as fuck. guitar strap unbuckled itself on the first song. voice cracking like a typical 16 year old git. pissed off at my drummer and bass player cus they "had to" smoke pot before going on - but overall a pretty good show...on the second to last song i busted my low e string and the backup guitarist didnt notice despite my gesturing...

ended on a high note not having to play guitar and sing at the same time so i could wail out "fritze's corner" by local h...

the best part is, we totally highjacked the show. the "popular kids" at school set up the show at our local "sell 25 tickets or give us $150and you can play" club so we made sure we booked the same night and played before them. take that fuckers! i didn't see anyone breakdancing during YOUR set tongue
