I did have a really specific thing in mind when I wrote the title for this thread. Im hoping it does come back to me, as for now it has slipped my memory completely.
ANYWAY.
for those people who living in the northern hemisphere (mainly the u.k. and americas) its probably not such a HUGE deal when your favourite band plays in your town, especially if you are from a major city.
However for those of us who are isolated in the southern hemisphere it is.
so, to what degree to people go to when theyre favourite band/artist tours? do you go to every show you can afford, or go all out for the one show, or go following them around the country etc.
& what shows do you have lined up for the rest of the year???
me? oh thanks for asking.
July (sometime) = Horrorpops
August 19th = Nine Inch Nails (any australians have a clue as to who the support is yet?)
November 29th = Oasis (shhhhhh haters, its an obsession that stems back to my pre-teen years)
& by far the most exciting DECEMBER 3RD = MOTLEY FUCKING CRUE !!!!!!!!!!!!
who has seen ALL or MOST of their favourite bands? I have pretty much seen the majority of mine, leaving courtneylove/hole and liz phair that i must see before i die.
best live tour? show? DEFINATLEY all four times i saw david bowie.
No thread! Don't die! In the name of Australia's favorite son, Nick Cave, who I still have not had the privilege to see live, I'll chime in.
I love to see my favorite bands live, but have gotten old enough that I'll only go to what I consider "event" shows - Things I would really regret missing.
I have seen most of my faves. Highlights for me include:
Current 93
Death In June
Diamanda Galas
Foetus
Melvins
Ramones
Einsturzende Neubauten
Jesus Lizard
Would LOVE to see:
Nick Cave
Tom Waits
Laibach
Psychic TV
The only show on radar I am tracking seriously is Current 93 when they come back to the US in November.

I used to go all over to see my favorite bands if I could. I've seen most of the ones I've wanted to see but over the years I stopped going to see them everytime they were around. best shows that I have seen off the top of my head were The Melvins, Strapping Young Lad, Portishead, and of course Slayer.
when Coalesce got back together, it happened to be my spring break
so I went to the Philly show, and then the NYC show the next day (I COULD"VE gone to the Jersey show before. . . .but didn't find out I would've had a ride until two days later).
There's shows I'd like to go to that sell out within seconds of the band even thinking of possibly touring (like Deftones).

I just recently started going to shows after a three year slump. It seems as if better bands are beginning to come to the area again: Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Lucero, Appleseed Cast, The Honorary Title...
Favorite shows from the past:
Rage Against The Machine
Planes Mistaken For Stars
Elliott Smith
Ryan Adams
Rancid
girlflamingo
