the only death metal i seem to like anymore is the early 90s stuff from Immolation, Deicide, Incantation, etc.

BLACK METAL

DOOM METAL
it depends on what you would consider "doom" metal. most people refer to it as bands such as St. Vitus, Black Sabbath, Pentagram, The Obsessed, etc. but i'm more into the "darker" bands/albums, such as:

Evoken-quietus
Skepticism-stormcrowfleet
My Dying Bride-as the flower withers
Burning Witch-crippled lucifer
Cathedral-forest of equilibrium
Shape of Despair-shades of...
Esoteric-the pernicious enigma (the most bizarre band on the fucking planet)

early Accused is also an old favorite.....it was classified as splatter rock/core......what ever the fuck and all of the stupid classifications.......either its good or it isnt..........

i don't listen to much metal. and the metal i like isn't too "heavy", but i'm gonna support a couple of the previous posts: opeth rule. isis rule...both of them go from heavy, screaming and such to pretty and atmospheric in no time....usually a couple of times within a song. for pure crazy heavy introspective loud and technical shit, listen to meshuggah. then listen to them again. then get back to me.

What did you guys think of the new Discordance Axis with all the Cide Project material?
