Favorite Peter Gabriel video(s).

I don't know about you guys but I love Peter Gabriel. Although Sledgehammer and Kiss that Frog are funny as hell, I have to go with Shock the Monkey. Not only did the video scare the hell out of me when I was a kid, it remains my favorite Gabriel song (just beating out Digging in the Dirt-also a great video).

Thoughts? Agreements? Disagreements? Vitamins? Minerals?

I think sledgehammer is not only a great video but a fucking awesome song.

i thought that digging in the dirt video a few years back was cool. sledgehammer is a classic though.

"Sledgehammer." For many reasons, foremost among them nostalgia - that video, more than any other one, I associate with being six years old and watching MTV.

"Sledgehammer" is one of the best videos of all time, not just the best Peter Gabriel video.

The best Peter Gabriel video is the one laying in the gutter unwatched.

Sledgehammer is a classic but Ive always gotten a kick out of Steam. Thats probably my favorite.

Shock the Monkey is....weird.

Peter Gabriel is painfully underrated by this generation. Painfully.

i only remember that one of 'US'

"Games Without Frontiers" reminds me of staying up late with my older cousin while she babysat. "Kiss That Frog" is a close second. "Steam" reminds me of my junior year of high school. That song was all over the radio and Mtv.

Didn't PG dress up in a Mr Poo suit when he was with Genesis? Wasn't that the reason they replced him on vocals with the drummer?

Gabriel definitely went for the eye-grabbing garb back in his Genesis days.



But to clarify - Gabriel quit Genesis of his own volition (and rightfully so, given where Collins would take them in the future). "Solsbury Hill," his solo debut, is about him deciding to leave Genesis.

I saw sledgehammer on tv for the first time in ages the other day. it must have taken so long to make! it did my head in a bit though.

Though, Collins isn't all that bad. Disney soundtracks aside, the man has made wonderful contributions to both Gabriel and Eno records. And 80s syrup ballads don't get any better than "Throwing it All Away."

I don't really have a favorite. I'm just glad that his video collection is finally out on DVD.

'Sledgehammer' is the easy go-to answer... The animation was done by the fine folks who now do 'Wallace & Gromit'. In its early 80's cheesiness, I still prefer 'Shock The Monkey'. Far better photography for my tastes.
