Visitors to the famous Madame Tussauds wax museum in London will get to meet a new dummy this year, Justin Hawkins, lead singer of the Darkness.
Hawkins' likeness will be responsible for rating tourists' air guitar skills in a new exhibit entitled "Air Guitar Star":
To get would-be rockers in the mood, the Madame Tussauds rock god team will be on hand to teach a variety of wild moves, including the Fishtail jump, Scissor jump, high-speed skidding across the stage and giant leaps into the crowd!
After practising their moves, air guitar stars can choose a suitably rockin soundtrack from Busted to AC/DC to The Darkness. Supporting the performance will be a spandex-clad backing band and a variety of props including tennis racquets and brooms will be on hand to help get into the rock star frame of mind. Then its time to storm the stage and let rip.
Once guests have delivered their rock rampage, The Darkness frontman, Justin Hawkins will give his expert opinion on their air guitar star rating from total air head to air guitar god.
You can enjoy this new venue for laughing at pudgy tourists making fools of themselves starting March 17th.
I'm not getting down on The Darkness or anything... but aren't they kinda a one hit wonder? Shouldn't a band have been popular more than a year before they get immortalized next to past heads of state?

Well, considering they've only put out one album, and that they had a string of hits in the UK, I wouldn't relegate them to one hit wonderdom yet.
But this isn't "next to heads of state". It's a silly exhibit where people play air guitar.

Still, it's taking a lot on faith, assuming anyone's going to care about or even remember them in 5 years. Especially in today's music scene, one big album means nothing, they'll move on to the next act without looking back. Just doesn't seem like a safe investment, since those things aren't exactly easy to make.

That's what I was about to say... yeah, it's just a wax museum and all, but they seem to put just about anyone in there nowadays...

See, if they did have the heads of state in there, now that would be cool....

Hey now! I would fall under the category of american, though hopefully not "annoying amierican". But I know who The Darkness are. In fact I've seen them in concert twice here in the states and loved every minute of the shows they put on.
I mean who in their right mind would want to miss the opportunity to see Justin Hawkins in spandex?!
