Aliens are invading the planet and turning humans into zombies. After saving his heros, Guitar Wolf, from their manager, and having the honour of becoming their blood brother, wannabe rocker Ace finds himself caught up in the carnage. He didn't think he'd need Guitar Wolf's help quite so soon.

This movie really is great... its got the whole rock & roll meets Japan meets aliens, meets space zombie vibe so popular with all the cool Shibuya kids.

Guitar Wolf is touring the US as we speak, er... read:

http://www.guitarwolf.net/e-main.html

I was slated to go see them in NYC, but a snow storm prevented that from happening. I'm very angry with snow.

Thank you

Edited to say: OK, I see that everyone probably already knew that. The touring part, not the part about how I didn't go.

I fucking love Wild Zero, and a few people I've spoken to about it have recommended the movie Stacy with great enthusiasm.
So I downloaded a torrent of Stacy once and expected it to be fantastic.

It wasn't. At all. It had a couple of interesting ideas, but it made absolutely no sense and came off as being very cheap and goofy. Don't get me wrong, I love me some low budget horror flicks, but this wasn't cheap and goofy in a fun and campy Troma movie kind of way, just an awkward and irritating.
Am I the only person that thinks Stacy is absolutely god awful?

Are there any other good Japanese zombie movies other than Versus and Wild Zero? I'm always interested in adding stuff like that to my collection.

I think my ears finally quit ringing, and Bass Wolf's signature has more or less worn off my arm. And yes, I love Wild Zero.

You lucky bastard.

I saw them once a few years ago, with The Cramps and Demolition Doll Rods. One of my all time favorite shows.

I love this movie. I have it on dvd! And technically, you could say it's a zombie movie, if you count that one scene where all of the dead guests' corpses join in for a song.
Much love for Takashi Miike.

I haven't watched this yet, I have it, but haven't gotten to it... people described it as a 'zombie musical', however apt that is or not... I like to use that phrase.

Still need to watch Izo... new Miike film that's getting great reviews.

I don't know that Happiness of the Katakuris actually fits into a single genre very well. It's quite whimsical, and very demented.

I hope that Miike gets more recognition outside of the Japanese circle, he's made some really great films. Gozu, Izo, Kiroshiya 1, One Missed Call, Happiness of the Katakuris. He certainly goes against the norm of cliched Japanese cinema, and is a prime force in its getting out of it's slump.
