I have the little radio transmitter thing for my ipod, and I installed the software and have followed the instructions to the best of my ability. But it doesn't work. I've tried everything, and it just. doesn't. work.
Mine works fine. I never installed the software, as the default radio frequency worked fine for me. At first it didn't work right, but then I read that the volume on the ipod has to be set between 50-70% or some such. But since you've followed all of the instructions, I dunno what it could be. Hmm I know it sounds obvious, but do you have the radio set to the right frequency?

I've heard the thing is no good, so hopefully you aren't one of its victims.

That's the thing...I'll set it to a station, and it'll "play" the station like a song for four seconds and then switch to the next station. I've tried pressing the button and paying attention to the flashing light...it just doesn't work.

I feel so dumb. There must be a solution.
Hmm, I'm assuming the default station on all of them is 87.9, which works fine for me. It works fine where I live, but I've found that the station goes out when I drive up north closer to Los Angeles. Maybe that station just doesn't work well enough where you live. You could try using the software to change the station it uses to one that you know comes in well, and keep it set as one of your saved stations. Maybe your stereo skips to the next station because that one isn't working.
I really don't know how this stuff works, as I'm not too sharp, but that's what I'd try.
play the itrip station on your ipod you want to set it to, and then hit the pause button before it stops playing. the red light on your itrip will flash a couple of times and when it stops...it should be programmed....at least that is how it worked with mine that gave me trouble forever
