I'd have to say that Urthboy as far as Aussie hip-hop goes is pretty great as well.

These guys are fucking tight! Great blues/rock/jam band, uses all sorts of banjos, sitars, and hand percussion. Killer stuff.

Wouldn't you know I just found out about these guys two days after their show here sold out.

I also like The John Butler Trio, Nick Cave, and Natalie Imbruglia, and Kylie MInogue (not really bands).
I'd say there have been a fair share of annoying bands eg Jet (in my opinion), and, The Vines

This band have already been and gone, but damn they were underrated.
