NOFX have decided not to release a new album in favor of releasing one seven each record every month for a year beginning in February of 2005.

As stated on the band's website ...

NOFX has decided to stop making crummy albums for a short while and will instead be making crummy 7"s. There will be 12 of these things and they'll be limited 7"s made up of new songs!

No word if they'll be following in the footsteps of Sub Pop's late Singles Club.

I doubt they need more cash, well at least Fat Mike and his nutty work schedule.

If they put out anything as decent as "See Her Pee" it will be worth the price.

at the end of the year they should screw everyone over by taking the songs from each release and releasing it as their new album. that would be hilarious.

Whenever I want to post a bitchy correction like that, I always stop myself. Should I just go with my instinct and let my spelling bitch flag fly?

Edited to emphasise that I'm the spelling bitch.

Time for MP3-supporting whiners who claim they buy/steal individual songs because people no longer write good albums to step up to the plate and only buy the NOFX songs they like. wink

Nofx should have just given up after punk in drublic. The only good thing they've released since then was the decline.

Hey -- White Trash Two Heebs and a Bean was pretty decent.

Well ... that was my favorite NOFX moment. They didn't blow it (in my opinion) until Pump Up the Volume.

Why don't you just quit listening to them then? It isn't that hard.

NOFX is funny as fuck live. biggrin

Some people like really recent NOFX stuff, some people only like White Trash Two Heebs and a Bean, and some people stopped liking them after the Six Pack Girls 7". Hell, some people like all their shit for different reasons. I fail to see the purpose in arguing over the point at which they "blew it" or at what point they "should have just given up."

They're fucking musicians. Maybe they like the shit they've put out in the last 10 years. They don't have to get your fucking approval to put out a new album. Geez.

By the way...I second this:

The War on Errorism is a great album!! A completely re-energized NOFX!

As for the end of the year and putting all the songs on an album, well that IS what a mainstream band would do. They will get crucified if they attempt this.

actually that best of record, is being released by epitaph, and not fat. so im guessing that they might not have had so much of a say in it. maybe they owed epitaph another record.
im just speculating.

i would pretty much expect that the songs will be released in some form on cd. be it a song or two on a comp, another b sides collection, or just an album comprising all of the stuff from the 7"s. I don't really think that would be ridiculous. right now they are pandering to collectors. I don't collect NOFX (or even legaly own a single NOFX album) but I do collect from a number of my favorite bands, and I can honestly say that if a favorite band of mine did this I'd think it was cool, and I'd also be cool with it coming out as a full album sometime later. I mean, if only for quality. I know this is such an anti-punk rock statement, but all the indie kids who still claim that vinyl is a superior medium need to just fess up to the fact that they are only buying it for street cred, collectability, and/or larger coverart. (this is barring the DJ scene, in which vinyl is the most practical medium for scratching, beat matching, etc etc). in this modern age of digitaly mixed and mastered everything, vinyl has not a single edge over CDs in the sound quality department. not to mention the fact that i listen to the vast majority of my music while walking or driving.

I must be an indie kid because I do think vinyl is the superior medium. I mean that in a completely subjective way of course. I love the crackle and warmth of vinyl. It is awesome.
