Christ Almighty, when I die I want people to leave me alone. Don't publish my unpublished books, don't make my scripts into movies, don't use my name to put money in your pocket or I'll haunt your house until you kill your fucking self!

This kind of shit pisses me off. True Tupac fans should be content with what he gave them.

It makes me sad because I'm not sure how I feel about his mother being partially responsible for all of this. I know she had it rough, and she loved her son very much, but it feels like she's just trying to make money off of his name. Sad. frown

Oh for fucks sake. There's a reason so much of this wasn't released - Tupac didn't like it and/or he never got to finish it before he died. This is cashing in on a grand scale.

...eh, but that's the music business. Nobody became rich and popular by giving out free CD's they made on their own in their bedroom.

I hate it when they do this shit. Anybody remember the hype that surrounded the new Beatles song in the mid nineties; complete with lyrics from a very deceased John Lennon? The song totally sucked ass (and so did the video). It kind of fucks up my final memory of how great the Beatles were. Same thing applies to Tupac. Although I have to admit that I've never been a big fan of his music, I kind of feel sorry for the those people who are.

cos i can't belive he spent that much time in the studio laying phat rymes etc etc

i have a theory...it's called pro-tools. he recorded enough from them to pro-tool just about anything into a "new rhyme."

Wow, you're in/from Philly and made an ignorant-fuck comment like that? You must not voice your opinion too much. But while we have you here, do tell us how one "acts white". Or no, better yet, tell us what it means to "act black", if that is what you are implying that Eminem does?

I fucking HATE when people make comments like these, because it's so ignorant and racist, even though the people who make them often swear they're not racist.

An excerpt from an essay that I wrote:

Undoubtedly, you've all heard the word "wigger", either from someone's mouth, or second-hand. I've often heard teenagers say "I hate wiggers". It doesn't take a genius to figure out the roots of the word, and so those same teenagers might as well be saying that they hate "niggers" by association. A wigger is a "white person who dresses, acts, or talks the way black people (or rather, "niggers") supposedly act." Of course all black people act the same, right?

Is that about where you are buddy?

If Eminem wore tight jeans and had slick hair, a nose ring, and a swastika tattoo, would that be "acting white" enough for you? Or maybe it's the way he talks/raps, in using slang that is (wrongly) associated with black people? People like you need to realize that these "ways of acting" are rooted in culture, and in class, NOT race. Race and behavior are fucking mutually exclusive concepts. Get a clue.

It' s simply my opinion that Eminem's co-opting of Black culture makes him look very silly and I have a right to that opinion.
HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I apologize for making racial remarks of any shade but mainly for saying anything here because I HATE both Tupac and Eminem......and I hate it when people throw 2 cents in when they don't care to begin with, which I sure as hell don't.......... kiss

So what are you implying? I apologize and say I REALLY don't like them and this means what because I used the one word opposed to loving them? Please don't take your free time so seriously. I hate that, don't you!?

This is where you make your mistake, and this is what makes you look like a fool. Eminem is not "co-opting" anything. That which you wrongfully classify as "black culture", is actually an extension of socioeconomic status, NOT RACE. NOT RACE.

NOT RACE.

Eminem grew up under piss-poor conditions in Detroit, where the majority of people he engaged with just so happened to be black. The language, points of view, and anything else you may use to classify him are representative of that environment, NOT his race. That much should be obvious in the fact that both black people and white people (e.g. Eminem) from that environment exhibit similar behavior. So, Eminem is not "acting black", since there is no specific behavior specific to all black people, nor is he co-opting any culture. He, like anyone else, is in part a product of a certain environment, that environment defined by socioeconomic status.

There is a HUGE difference. If you don't get that, then you're an asshole. So don't apologize, because it's meaningless in the face of your overwhelming ignorance. The best thing you can do is GET IT, and then comment from a new standpoint of understanding.

Just what I was thinking. I think similarly in regards to Mary Guibert (Jeff Buckley's mom).

Tupac= bad tipper. $2 on $80 worth of drinks. He and his entourage leered and were generally smug and creepy jerks. So what if it was in a strip club where I waitressed? One of his entourage bolted mid-lap dance, and they left shortly thereafter. 2 weeks later, he was killed.

Last time I checked, common courtesy, manners and payment for services rendered should apply to anyone, no matter how rich and famous. Maybe that's just me. It doesn't affect my opinion of his music, though. He has his place in the rap scene, but he was never one of my favorites.

I heard eminem doing the Hail Mary song and i liked it. I dont think its a big deal that his mom is making money off of him, in a few of his songs he said how much he loved his mom. and im sure he wasnt an easy kid for a mom to put up with and with everything she went through with his death, i think in a way he owes it to her. I dont see anything wrong with it if people dont like it they dont have to buy or listen to the music.
