Consider the following albums as a single unit of awesomeness:

- Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
- David Bowie - Outside
- Muse - Absolution

I want more music with this kind of slant... I don't know what it is really. Dark and sultry and electronically assisted, but that doesn't really sum it up...
Anyone who knows these 3 discs as examples, and kinda sees the common thread I'm drawing betweeen them, want to suggest some music I should check out?
(not any albums by those same artists please, as I've heard them all. Also nothing already on favorite bands in my profile...)

Help me please? smile

Bowie - Heros, Lodger, Low (These albums make Outside look like a fart in a bag.)

Brian Eno - Here Come The Warm Jets, Taking Tiger Mountain

also

Iggy Pop - The Idiot

and

Roxy Music's first two albums

Roxy Music - Avalon (later on, but kind of trippy and neat)

M83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts (french guys writing the soundtrack to high speed interstellar travel)

Ooh, M83, good call. I would also suggest Catherine Wheel.

jomi massage - aloud
speaker bite me - inner speed
speaker bite me - if love is missing it must be imposed
blonde redhead - melody of certain damaged lemons (or misery is a butterfly)
(m83 - dead cities...)

you probably won't be able to find the first three where you live, though.

All Joy Division albums (including the singles compiliation Substance), and the first few New Order albums (especially Power, Corruption, and Lies.)

That's pretty much the source for a lot of that sort of music.
