Looks like Metallica is about to start work on a new album. Bassist Rob Trujillo was recently interviewed by phillyburbs.com who report ...

Metallica has another month left on this tour, but Trujillo said the band already has a jump start on the next album: More than 50 recorded hours of pre-set jamming, with hundreds of riffs, chord progressions and bass lines to sift through.

No word if they'll be a therapist on hand for this recording.

Geez - did everyone hate St. Anger. I thought it rocked. Of course it didn't rock as hard as all their other albums, but still.

I hope Mettallica keeps touring and making records forever. They are my favorite band and will never let me down.

Also - Kirk Hammet did most of the writing on St. Anger and that is why it was so different in style from previous albums. You all can lick my balls - METALLICA ROCKS MY WORLD tongue

I remember when Rob was in Suicidal Tendencies. Those were the days, man...Those were the days.

I'll listen to the new record when it comes out, but I'm skeptical. St. Anger had its moments...but the production and the sloppiness of the writing was too much to handle.

there was a thread about this topic a few months back, and i think the point was, why don't you just enjoy their old stuff and stop pissing on the new. it isn't the same kind of music, and to expect tthat would be unreasonable, and kind of sad. they've been doing music for around 23 years, and any artist or musician will tell you that people grow and change as artists in that time. deal with it. no one's making you listen to the new stuff anyway.

I don't hate the new stuff because it's different, I hate it because it sucks. But I agree that if you don't dig it, shut the fuck up. Don't open the thread, etc. etc.

I originally wrote a very snide comment in extremely poor taste and thought better of it.

Well put! Unfortunately most people out there obviously refuse bands the right to grow and change like everybody else does.

I'm into Metallica pretty much since they got started and every single album had its moments. Some I like more and some less but there will never be a band of which you'll dig everthing.

The guys still rule and kick major ass on stage. Still wait for another live act that can put up with 'em.

Anyway, can't wait for the new album, which will, however, most probably not be published before mid 2005.

BTW, when I pressed "ADD REPLY" the entiry layout became fucked up with the smilies and stuff being all over the place. Anyone else with this kind of probs?

I did the opposite -- I still dig Metallica pre-Black album.

I rarely download mp3s, but I made it a point to own a burned copy of every Metallica album (cover art and all) out of principle since I had all the old stuff on cassette.

Eh.
All their new stuff, basically from "Load" to "St Anger," has been so much mush. They need to get back to 8 minute songs with 4 minute solos. That old school sound rocks my soul.
