Legendary folk duo David Crosby and Graham Nash have announced their plans to run for the 2004 US presidency, declaring one of their first elected agendas will be to "clear out Area 51".

The musicians caught members of the media off guard at a press event earlier this month - intended to discuss their first album together as a duo in almost three decades. Instead, the "Party Party Ticket" campaign was unveiled, with radical manifesto pledges like "free money", and a night in the Lincoln Bedroom to anyone who antes up $200,000. The renamed "Social Insecurity" and "Medicareless" agencies will be overhauled, and the candidates are researching fixing the electronic voting machine situation:

"Remember," they say, "it's not the people who vote that change things, it's the people that count the votes that change things."

Crosby and Nash are taking time out of a packed summer schedule to pursue their Joint Presidency, although a US coast-to-coast tour with Crosby, Stills & Nash (through September 22), remains unchanged.

On August 10, Sanctuary Records will release their fourth studio album as a duo - and their first-ever double album together - "Crosby-Nash", recorded in L.A. in early 2004.

When asked how rock 'n' roll and campaigning measured up against each other, Crosby commented, "Well, 'I rock' is much better than Iraq."

Leave it to me to be picky, but that sounds more like 60's hippie bullshit than 70's rocker madness. Anyway hippies shouldn't be allowed to vote let along run for office... maybe they will 'steal' votes from John 'I was a rocker' kerry and we'll have another 4 years of G. 'Adolf' Bush...... serves that damn babyboomer right...

ok, ok,... it's not the time period it's calling it 70's rock, and wasn't CSN&Y's big deal Woodstock which was in '69.

By the way....Utah Phillips ran under the Sloth & Indolence Party. citing the least active presidents as the best, he promised to play pool and scratch his ass while in office.

Ugh. I had just listened to "Another Stoney Evening," the Crosby/Nash acoustic show from '71. Fine album if you like these two.

Then this. puke I saw an ad for it from the site AllAccess waiting in my inbox this morning, complete with a photo of David and Graham looking like they just escaped from the nursing home.

I hope either Young kicks their asses or Stills just sits on them.
