you know, the one that wears the band shirt at the concert. why did this become such a concert/fashion faux pas? I'm curious. also, are you still "that guy" if you made the article of clothing yourself? what about people who bought the shirt that night at the merch table and are eager to wear it?

Blame Jeremy Piven. I hadn't heard about it until PCU.

Actually, when I went to see Beck, I wore a Beck shirt. And bought a Beck shirt. And put it on over my first one.

People who want to be really cool are afraid of looking like screaming teeny fans, that's all. Showing enthusiasm isn't cool or something. Wear whatever you want.

If I've ever worn the shirt of a band I was seeing, it was by accident. I don't pick my wardrobe specific for shows. But I think people who buy shirts from the merch table and wear them (especially OVER their other shirts) are kinda silly.

You are not "that guy" if you made the article of clothing. That shows some dedication and earns you fan points in my book.

you know, if you go see an argentine band, it is normal to see almost everyone wearing the argentine soccer jersey. some sporting the obvious 10. wink or their favorite argentine soccer club jersey, in fact.

so are they still considered "that guy"?

If you were really fanatical about seeing the band you'd probably wear their shirt...who cares, really. It seems like a very silly thing to concern yourself about. All I wear is band t-shirts anyways.

dude, I'm so frickin' stupid because I'll buy band shirts and never wear them... because I hate people saying "oh you like that band" and stereotypically think of me as some archtype they have in their mind. I use to get that a lot wearing cannibal corpse shirts... yeah sure I got dead babies on my shirt but I'm actually a nice guy who loves classical music too... but no one will assume that.

if someone wants to know my musical tastes, simply ask, I don't have to advertise myself or my interests. but I sure as hell would like to support the bands I like and buy their merch.

I was unaware it was a fashion faux pas. Hmmm i may have to star wearing them.
After all i have a bad fashion sense rep to live up to.

I interviewed a band wearing one of their shirts. And went to both of their gigs that weekend wearing different shirts. That obviously makes me a totally uncool geek, but if you're in to the band enough, who gives a fuck?

I would wear a shirt of the band to the band, but I don't think I would race to put on a shirt I bought from the concert. I bought a SG t shirt from the SGB in saskatoon and didn't put it on til the next day...and still haven't taken it off biggrin

the coolest guy i met was in Michigan. He made his own shirt for the band and then him and his friends got my friend and I completely loaded.

I avoid being "that guy" just out of habit, I guess. I can't say I really care much, and I'd never heard the term until PCU, but I still do it.

It's funny, most of the shows I got to, it's rare to see someone NOT wearing band gear.
