You really think the new album sounds similat to Turn On the Bright Lights? I don't think it sounds much like it at all. Good stuff none the less, I can't wait for the album to drop. smile

i mean similar as in it still has that consistently recognizable interpol sound. its not a bad thing by any means. it does break away a bit from the constant strumming sound thats all over the first one. i really like it a lot.

its much more upbeat and pop, perhaps i dare say powerpop-ish

overall after (only) 2 good listens I can't say its better than TOBL, but its defnitely a good album, some production seems to have been rushed
we should just be happy that there is somethig new to listen to

My favorite 3 tracks: Slow Hands / Evil / Public Pervert
Worst track: a time to be small

I've had it going on 3 or 4 weeks now, and after the first couple of listens I wasn't exactly sure to make of the new direction, but it has grown on me. I think it's definitely aimed more for radio than TOTBL was, but at the time their first LP was being recorded there wasn't many bands of their niche getting airplay. I suppose they have some desire to get more songs released as singles from this album, and the song writing style has changed a little bit to accomadate for that, but over all, aside from being too short (only 10 songs, just over 40 minutes), it's a brilliant Interpol record.

slow hands definitely a favorite. the kind of song i wish everyone i know knew the lyrics to so we could all sing it loud as hell. the intro is great also.
