siren fest

if anyone is in the area this saturday, there is a huge free festival at coney island with a bunch of awesome bands (blonde redhead, tv on the radio, and you will know us by the trail of dead, death cab for cutie, the fiery furnaces, the constantines....to name a few). its an annual thing, last year modest mouse closed out the show, playing as the sun was going down and the lights of the rollercoaster and ferris wheel were coming on, fucking amazing. and it's free!

I live in coney island. Its nice to see all those punk rocker people, etc in coney island.

And here I saw the topic name and thought it was about one of our resident goddess type people.

its fun to see all the indie dudes who clearly havn't been in the sun in a long time hanging at the beach(lots o' record store tans out there...)myself included, of course.

If everyone seems to be going does anyone want to try to get a group together to meet up at it?

first year i've decided to not go. i've seen 15 of the 16 bands, only like about 4 of them anyway, and nobody ever sounds good down there.

oneida, ex models and pterodactyl are at mighty robot that night. much more satisfying, and better bands too.

ex models are great, i been done seen them though. i like the coney island environment, i'm going there.

i'm going for death cab and mission of burma. should be annoyingly fun

A friend of mine informed me that he's playing it as well. They're not really on the bill, but if you stand in the back of the crowd, you'll probably hear them playing their first set behind you. Their second set will be the first Siren performance to occur in the Atlantic ocean.

Electric Six are fun as hell. It's a good excuse to get your pale ass down to the beach.
