Sorry if this is old news, but I just found out The Fall has released a new CD.

The Fall "THE REAL NEW FALL LP Formerly Country On The Click."

I've heard "Contraflow", the 4th track. It is like nothing The Fall has ever, Very hard, I liked it the second I heard it. Overdriven guitars with a fast and angry beat.

I love me some Fall.

I've had the new album for a few months, but have only listened once through. Vic from the Armitage Shanks says it is one of their better ones.

I don't mind the personell changes in the band (the drummer and git player just left), cos it allows a variety of music to be made. The Fall were at their most boring (early/mid 90's) when Craig, Simon and Brix were just churning out blah stuff. With guys being fired every now and again, I like how Levitate, The Marshall Suite, Unutterable, Are You Are Missing Winner, and The Reall New Fall LP all sound different. Unutterable is much more electronic driven, and Are You... is more rockin. They cover a Troggs song, even.

The new record is truly fantastic, but I am a little sad that the band has dissolved again. Then again, when I saw them in NYC in April the performances were pretty weak. Got to pick up the new single...

well, i'll assume you are familiar with the band pavement.
i pretty much view slanted and enchanted as a Fall tribute album.

now, i'm not fall expert... and, as previous posts pointed out, the fall change "their" sound a lot. (i put "their" in quotes because the band is pretty much a rotating cast revolving around the singer and sole original member, mark e. smith)

The Fall has no one sound. They are far beyond Pavement. "Willful Obscurity" is about as well as I can describe them.

the only permant part of thier music is the vocals of Mark E. Smith, which you will either love or hate, not really much in between. His style is like being assualted with poetry.

MES once said "If it's me and your granny on bongos, it's a Fall gig."

Seriously, I believe there have been 47 different people in and out in 27 years.

agree. however i was just attempting to give the fella a reference point.

and yes, they've probably gone through more members than guided by voices. ...however, the fall have had more time.
