At a recent concert at Dublin Castle in Ireland, Morrissey announced the passing of American President Ronald Reagan followed by the statement "Bush should have died, not Reagan".

In light of these comments a spokesman for Morrissey's record label, Sanctuary Records, stated:

"We do not have a recording of the gig, but as far as we can tell, Morrissey was just alerting the audience to the fact that Ronald Reagan had died."

Morrissey is currently on the European leg of his tour before returning to the United States to take part in this summer's Lollapalooza festival.

Morrissey has lived in L.A. for many years. Last time I checked L.A. was still part of the U.S. By the way, our Governor isn't "from the U.S." either.

the saddest thing is the PC comment from the record company.. yeah: rock n roll in 2004 is all about being "just enough" so you get in the racks and on the radio playlist isn't ? doen't anyone in the music world really takes his responsability ? Oh, yes, Clear Channel does ;-) frown

But why kill the vice president and still leave President Cheney in power?

If Cheney dies, does that make Bush president?

That was great, though you missed the mark a bit. Catcher In The Rye and Bad Religion were more like 7th grade.

I interpret this as an anti-gay slur! Another typical neo-con plot to discredit a great gay artiste!

Agreed.

I'd kick the man in the crotch in a second... but I certainly wouldn't wish death upon him.
