New Hives Single

I got an advance copy of the new Hives single today called "Walk Idiot Walk." It rocks pretty hard. I'm looking forward to the album now.

I actually like Jet, because at least it's not all the same... I don't play the hit off it out.

the vines blow balls. that jet song sounds viciously similar to lust for life. i do like the hives though, they're snappy.

they get banded with the gargae rock as they got popular when that wave of music came about

Where did you aquire an early release?

The new song sounds like The Police circa 70's. Meaning, it's fucking hot.

Oh, and people comparing the vines to The Hives are just buying into that faux MTV rivalry bullshit.

The Hives also did come out of the 'Garage Rock' scene in sweden, along with bands like: The Backyard Babies, Soundtrack of Our Lives, Rickshaw, The Hellacopters..

Ugh! I hate the "garage" tag on bands like this. Don't get me wrong, the Hives are OK, but not what I would call garage. I thought garage meant bands like the Sonics, Standells, Moving Sidewalks, ? and the Mysterians, Seeds, etc. (all bands I love), who have precious little in common with the Hives et al.

I agree, and so do most of the musicians who have been labeled as Garage... I tend to call the stuff from the nordic countries High Energy Rock and Roll...


I do like the Hives and look forward to hearing their new album. I think it's the only major label record I am looking forward to hearing this summer.

I don't care for the "garage" rock label, either, but nobody rocks harder than the Hives. These guys made rock 'n roll fun again, at least for me. I am eagerly awaiting the new album.

The nicest thing I can say about the Vines is that "Ride" is vaguely passable. Maybe it stands out becuase all of their other material is so weak and flacid.

Craig Nicholls of the Vines is undeniably a goon. And I didn't think much of Winning Days initially. Now I'm quite in to it. Yep. Quite in to it. It's warm and relaxed and nice and when it wants rock cocks it manages to. Apart from FTW, that song really sucks.

They'll be broken up soon enough anyway, so quitcha' bitchin' y'all.
