I am still listening to this record ten years later! WTF!?!

I know that some new discs will stay in the collection and make it into my ears every once in a while - a new Tom Waits or Nick Cave fer instance, but most discs get bought, get played for a week or a month then get sold. Why am I still listening to this one?

Sincerely,

Perplexed in Purgatory

10 years, huh? You must be refering to So Tonight That I Might See , It's a great record, but I to tell you the truth, both Among My Swan and She Hangs Brightly blow that one out of the water, Maybe it's becuase I have been a fan since '92 and I have listened to SHB more times than I can count.

But what you are saying makes sense. They are a damn good band and I listen to all three of their albums quite regularly to this day.

Maybe one day if we cross our fingers and wish hard enough, they will put out some new material.... Don't get me wrong, the Hope Sandoval solo CDs were great, but just not quite the same. I highly reccomend you pick those up if you like Mazzy Star.

Also, Capitol is supposadly putting together an anthology to be released in the fall. A "greatest hits" collection, I would guess, but word has it that it's going to be a CD/DVD. I'm drooling in anticipation! biggrin

Mazzy Star was sooo awesome, at least for one album. I re-bought it at some shitty mall store a couple years ago and my then-girlfriend hated me for it. Well guess what, ex-girlfriend?? I STILL HAVE MAZZY STAR! But wait? Where are you?? HAHAHAHHAHHAHAHA surreal

I have her solo album, and find it (surprise) VERY Mazzy Star like, especially songs like "On the Low." Personally I don't think you can go wrong with it if you're already a fan. Slightly "warmer" sound than Mazzy but not much different in the long run.

Yea, you should have no problem finding the full length and the Suzanne EP, the At The Doorway Again single...well...that might be ahrder to track down. But at the very least, I would suggest to ANY Mazzy Star fan, that you pick up the full lenght, Bavarian Fruit Bread. smile

I've been in love with Mazzy Star since the very first time I heard "Fade Into You". That's still one of my favorite songs. It's so moving.

started listening with 'fade into you' and simply never stopped. 'into dust' is just about the most desolate, beautiful, suicidal thing i've ever laid ears on.

i've 'hope sandoval and the warm intentions' playing in winamp right now. good, but not near as yummy as mazzy star.

hope is so vulnerably cute.
