they were raising money to get on, but decided not to(& returned all the donated cash) so they were never on

I think a lot SXE kids adopt to mentality of being in a gang rather than the whole message that SXE is he abstance of mind altering subsances and permiscuous sex. It seems that most of them want to spread the message that they're tougher than you rather than to spread the message of their ideals.

theres alot of really cool sxe kids, there the ones who dont run around making themselves a massive billboard promoting their lifestyle choice, they just fucking do it and leave the preachy elitist aspect alone

I haven't been to Ozzfest since 1999.... I think I'll go this year, but just hang out by the second stage (if i can find some pathetic soul to go with me)

Don’t brand the whole movement as assholes just because you’ve met a few bad apples. That’s like saying all black people are… well, you get the point. I have lots of friends and not a single one of them is straight edge, so if I was a hard-liner that would really put me in an awkward position – don’t you think?

I’ve never read one comment on this board from a sXe person claiming they were superior, or that anyone should change to be like them. On the flip side, anytime the topic of straight edge comes up there are more than a handful of idiots who have no shame in tossing out comments like, “they need to drink a beer” or “they should smoke a bowl!”

The fact is, most of us are perfectly fine coexisting along side people who drink themselves stupid, so it seems that we’re not the intolerant ones.

I grew out of my ‘I’m better than you’ phase way back in the early 90’s. As long as you aren’t on Welfare, neglecting your 8 kids and sucking dick for crack, I’m not better than you… I just choose to live my life a different way.

Oh, and Throwdown used to be good when they were just posi-straight edge kids from Orange County. It seems that along with changing their lead singer they’ve decided to become more serious and tough-guyish. They used to be a lot better.

That's one thing I do hate, that everyone now assumes that anyone that's straight edge is an automatic asshole. I mean, yeah, I can be a bitch, and some members have found that out. But that's when they've decided to be dicks to me first. I don't attack unless provoked. I'm generally nice, and so are most of my sxe friends. And I don't see how anyone that's edge can preach to those who aren't about how they should clean up their act and claim edge and live a healthy life when they used to be the same damn way. You can't claim edge unless you used to live that same lifestyle. And those kids that beat the shit out of that guy at a show a couple of weeks ago, yeah, that didn't help the image much. I personally claimed because of health and psychological reasons. I really don't care if anyone drinks around me, I'm fine with that, I just ask that they don't push the shit on me. I only ask that people not smoke around me, because I have asthma and cigarette smoke will trigger it. I don't feel like landing my ass in the hospital anytime soon.

As for those who demand that sxe'ers should drink up or smoke up, that they're being uptight, ect - I'm assuming that these guys have never considered the fact that those who did claim probably did get buzzed on a regular basis. They didn't find it appealing and that's why they claimed. Some of my friends dropped contact with me after I told them I claimed and said no when they forcefully tried to get me to drink. I think that the fact that I claimed reminded them of how irresponisble they can get when they drink, and the fact that I'm almost 21 and prefer not to drink as opposed to them being 18, 19, and living permadrunk didn't make them feel better. That was not my intention, but I'm thinking that's how they percieved it. That's what the problem could be with edge bashers, they're being reminded of how retarded and irresponsible they get when they're drunk or stoned. Even if it's unintentional.

And yeah, I keep hearing that Throwdown used to be good. Now if only I could have seen that....don't mind my rambling on, I'm kinda in a bit of pain right now, so I'm not thinking clearly.
