I saw Joe and the Mescaleros at the Metro in 2001. It was the best show I've ever seen, now or before. I'd just like to reiterate the sentiment already set forth; I'm glad that I got the chance/made the effort to see him perform before his death.
On the other hand, if Mick was still performing I'd go see his band. BAD was a lot better than many may remember; just not the band that The Clash was. Anyone else listen to E=MC2 and V-Thirteen and fantasize about what a full Clash version would have been like? How about what might have been added musically to Johnny Appleseed or Burning Streets? Minstrel Boy?

Oh, and I don't think a reunion would have cheapened anyone except for all the bands that have reunited that AREN'T The Clash. I think even their ability to be sampled in hip-hop with varying success and little damage to the "legacy" is decent testament to how time preserves quality. I second the comment that they were a classy band. Actually, The Clash were always second place on a list of bands I'd kill my own family to see live. The Stooges were number one and I didn't even bother going to see them. Iggy is a big freakin' hippy these days, so to hell with it. Ron and Rock deserve the money, but musically deserve better (throws hat into politcal arena). So I guess that says something about lists...

As long as we're on the subject, then... anyone else cry the second you heard the "Coma Girl" single?

Okay... how 'bout people STILL pissed that Rolling Fucking Stone goes with the enormous portrait of Johnny Cash after he dies (nothing against the Man In Black, I'm just saying...), but in the Strummer obit issue, there's a little caption on a cover featuring a barechested Justin Timberlake?!?

I'm not still pissed, but Rolling Stone kind of dropped the ball on that one. I don't know if Strummer deserves his own issue, but for sure a big part of one.
