I just applied for an Emo Punks! group for those of us who get railed on the boards for liking bands such as Good Charlotte, Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, Less than Jake, Saves the day, New Found Glory...

It would be a "safe haven" tongue, to talk about your favorite Pop Punk/Emo bands and your favorite songs, lyrics, shows, videos and such.

Hopefully it will get approved, and people will join. wink

Because lots of people consider them pop-punk. Just like Goldfinger, Zebrahead, Reel Big Fish...

What does the word emo have to do with any of those bands?
What does the word punk have to do with a lot of those bands?

Don't throw together two half decent words to make a horrible label for even worse bands.....

sorry... it had to be said.... ....but only because you put Good Charlotte twice.

This is EXACTLY why I wanted this group, which is why I said in my 1st post that people who like bands such as these, get railed on the boards for it.

Snotty, over opinionated, elitest music snobs make the music board NO FUN most of the time.

I was joking.

And even if I wasn't... I don't care if you like those bands or not, have a time and a half liking them. Music is music, like what you like, hate what you hate... have fun while doing it all.
You can love your bands all you want, but saying those bands are "emo punk" ... that's silly.

And you put good charlotte twice... one right after the other no less, haha.

Not to be an elitist asshole... I've just never in my life heard GC, LtJ, or NFG (you're missing Sum 41) ever referred to as emo. They're warmed over Blink 182, which is warmed over Green Day, which is warmed over Ramones. Notice how the whiney-voice quotient has increased with each new punk generation?

If you hear the word pop-punk and the the Ramones aren't the first band that pops into your head, you've got some serious problems. Close runners up that might be included are the Boys, the Undertones, and possibly the Buzzcocks.

Thank you.
