Seriously tell me, we had three shows here and they all sold out... I saw a picture of them and one guy was in a Darth Vader mask... I was on a phonebooth next to a line of people waiting for a Get up Kids show and it looked like the line for the Elementary school prom... but Modest Mouse... they baffle me... What's their gig? you know, stylee.

I dunno, I guess the excessive whammy-bar guitar and the dude's screamy, lispy vocals just do it for me.

The first first 5 songs on any Modest Mouse album are always the best songs ever. Until a new Modest Mouse record comes out.

modest mouse is just a great band all around and they aren't afraid to make the music they want to make, which is a good thing, cause they are sweeeeet.

ps. their newest cd is definitely their most crossover-friendly

I guess the first time I heard modest mouse was in 97. To me it was like Will Oldham meets the Pixies meets Brainiac. I liked it. Then I saw them live and they blew me away. One of the best live shows I've ever seen. But they don't do shows like that anymore.

Modest Mouse is not objectionable, but they sound generic. There's a million bands in the naked city that sound very similar. Typical minor-league indie act.

Yeah. I like "The Moon..." and all, but it doesn't do anything for me. I don't see how they got to such great heights of indie favor.

Yeah, I have The Moon & Antarctica and Building Something Out Of Nothing. That's how I decided I didn't really like 'em. Think about it this way, there's a reason they have recorded so many records and never moved beyond cult status.

Their first record, "Lonesome Crowded West", is their best work in my opinion. It isn't as college radio friendly as their other stuff, but it still is on a Subpop subsidiary, so it still isn't anything earth shattering or groundbreaking.

All said, I enjoy them from time to time, but they don't have staying power in my cd/mp3 rotation.

I don' tknow if I just heard the wrong song, but the one I heard on the radio was really reptitive and terribly boring.
