A friend of mine went to a show in NYC. After the show he hung outside the venue to say "hi", get an autograph, etc. Andrew comes out and gets to some kids near my friend. The only thing they have for him to sign is thier power bill. They get to talkin' and apparently they can't afford to pay the bill because they came to the show. Andrew whips out his checkbook and pays thier power bill.

Don't know about the music, but that fucking rocks.

But I got to you first so I am cooler, right? kiss

No, you're just quicker... and cuter. And, well, more original. But mine was a Strong Bad thing which naturally means it's funnier. So let's see that's... 3 for you and 1 for me. Crap, you still win.

But I will still give you a kiss!

We BOTH win!

Even music snobs that don't listen to his music must submit to his Rock Power. Hell, I don’t trust people that aren’t down with WK. Not at all.

I want to know Souljacker's thoughts on that, and then and only then will I agree with Scopitones views on music snobs and AWK.

I don't have the words for how beautiful this story is. Verily, it belongs in the pantheon of The Greatest Tales of Rock Ever Told. Ever.

His music has never done anything for me, but if that story is true then he is the best rock star of all time. I wish I could meet him and get him to 'sign' my Mastercard bill.

Go to Underground sounds on Liberity and ask for Mazinga....

AWK is popular because he was brought up in a enviroment where he was well funded by his college prof parents and went to a high school where people were trained to play the game and sneer at the world. What I hear over and over is that his music is just fun and filled with energy.

One night, years ago, when all the WK brouhaha was first kicking up, I was stood, with a friend, staring at an A WK poster under the power of various intoxicants. My friend, Ludo, suddenly declared "Hey! His names an anagram of... wanker DW! I bet his real names something like.... uh.... Douglas... Wardrobe."

And that was how we learnt the truth about Douglas.

I've loved this man since the day I first heard him. My admiration was increased by listening to this interview. My soul was converted by witnessing 2 live shows.

I think the Dark Poet said it best:

"I want my children to listen to people who fucking rocked. I don't care if they died in puddles of their own vomit. I want someone who plays from his fucking heart. "Mommy, mommy, the man that Bill told me to listen to has a blood bubble on his nose!" Shut up and listen to him play!"

He's an exception to my "Geez guys, can we stop making songs about how much we like to party already?" rule.

He's a man who is serious about having fun, and I think that's pretty cool.

I think "rock snobs" appreciate him for the sheer earnestness with which he makes music. He fucking RAWKS, has a blast doing it and makes no apologies.

Has anyone noticed the staggering amount of either true DIY or independant punk/hardcore/etc bands has on this tour? The Locust, International Noise Conspiracy, Jersey, Wolf Eyes, Murphy's Law, No Motiv, Sworn Enemy and MORE? This is truly an artist the filth mainstream needs...wow...true support of the scenes and arts..... love
I pray to THIS shrine

that I may one day propose to him with a basket of carnival themed candies and that he may consider making me Mrs. W.K. (yes, similar to that scene in Welcome To The Dollhouse) love love love love love love love love EL SUICIDO LOCO

I almost fear this is an urban WK legend b/c i heard the SAME exact thing from a friend who lives in Olympia-but it was about HIS friend. I heard a hundred dollar bill, though. Could just be how he does things...........wait....that hair reminds me of someone...........the initials J.C.? Could it be a cover up?

I think the 'cool kids' write him off so they don't harm their cool quota. It's a shame because he's one of the most entertaining and fun musicians around. Plus he is an actual musician, versed in many instruments.

Respect going up and up!
