I always hated "Million Miles Away." It reminds me of Bon Jovi covering a Goo Goo Dolls song.

??? Wow, that's a unique take on it! I don't hear it at all, but unique nonetheless.

It's not the Plimsouls' finest moment, but a Bon Jovi comparison? Things that make ya go hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Well, since I started this thread, I wish I had the power to kill it, since it's completely gone down the shitter. Since I can't, I'm just going to offer a conclusion:

Power Pop REMAINS a misunderstood genre... at least here in Suicide Girls land. The damage has been done, and can't be reversed.

Power Pop R.I.P.

The English Beat being ska...............

...........even that description is questionable compared to other ska music. But yeah close enough.

Just so you know, pretty much every comment you've posted on this thread has been misinformed and inaccurate. The Beat (as they were called in the UK) were one of the premier ska revival bands from the late 70's along with the Specials, the Selector and Madness. Their first two albums are considered classics of that genre.

Then again, couldn't you say that ska and the different ska revivals are all pretty discrete styles? Cause The [English] Beat sounds as much like Desmond Dekker or The Skatalites as Reel Big Fish sounds like The Beat. I think the Beat sounds more powerpoppy than skay...ska-y... skalike... bother.

Edited for spelling.

I don't know what power pop is or is not, but I've been listening to Mega City Four all morning and I think they're brilliant.
