I worked with a young guy who loved this kind of stuff and thought it was ultra brutal Metal or something of the sort. In fact, he himself was in a band and they sounded just like this minus the glossy production values. Pretty generic stuff actually, and I just can't get into all the "FUCK FUCKING FUCK YOU FUUUUUCK" style lyrics. I lost my teen angst when I lost my viriginity.

Coldplay and Incubus, I want them the hell off my radio! I listen almost exclusively to a station called KROQ (K-Rock), and they ARE NOT ROCK! Put them on the stations that play pop or contemporary or whatever, but don't put them on the station that is supposed to be rock music, and quit having them at rock concerts. Rock is loud, and edgy, and rebellious, and they are just sappy and lame.

It's certainly still alive. I have a friend who is still making this kind of music, wearing girl pants, with a swoop and trying to claim how non-scene his band is. Yet, the overwhelming majority of his fanbase is 13 year old scene kids. Just shaking my head, while they continue to play open string chugs and ripped off or watered down melodies stolen from Slaughter of the Soul. Haha.

He's not a band, he thinks he's Yamatsuka Eye, and every thing he touches is worse for the touch, he's Mike Patton, and he's awful.
I don't know why John Zorn works with him, and Fantomas/The Fantomas Melvins Big Band would have actually been good.

I know this thread is a bit old, but browsing through it has been quite amusing! I agree with many of you about the horrible noise produced by groups like Nickleback and ICP. Many others are on point with my opinions as well. Really what I wanted to say though is that I've never been into many hip hop style artists (there are a few here and there that I can stand), but thanks Opethfan777 for posting the link to Scroobius Pip. I'm digging it.
