I'm sure this has been done before, but I've never come across it. So what's the best concert you've ever seen and what made it so great?
For me it was Porcupine Tree and Opeth in NYC for several reasons. My two favorite bands played together in my favorite place in the world, the music was amazing, the experience was utterly surreal.

Ok, your turn.

This may seem like a lame concert to the younger crowd, but for me, my first was my best, DIO (Ronnie James) with openers Rough Cutt and Heaven, this wouldve been in Sep. 1985. Dayton Ohio, Hara Arena! I gotta give props to the 2 runners up, Live (Secret Samahdi tour) and Bare Naked Ladies (Maroon Tour)

Butthole Surfers and the Electric Love Muffin at the Pyramid in Richmond, VA. The day Reagan was shot. Completely kicked ass. We gave the Surfers some mushrooms before the show and they brought down the house.
'Twas the Psychic Powerless tour if I do recall.

*Crash Worship* in a warehouse in Oakland. hands down no contest the most amazing concert and possibly experience of my life. it was practically a roman orgy with lots and lots of fire and fresh fruit. every one of the 500+ people there was at least topless 5 minutes into the show and it just got crazier from there on out.
oh yeah the music was pretty rad too

Older Hot Water Music shows, especially the NYC/Knitting Factory shows, Brooklyn and New Brunswick shows.. or in Philly at the First Unitarian Church. They always gave it a little extra in NYC. Something is missing at the shows now.. but those sure were the days.

There was energy and comaraderie at those older shows like I've never experienced in my life.

I used to go to alot of shows(way back when...) but the best show ever was one we hadn't even planned to see. We were invited to see Devo at the cabaret metro in chicago. it was sold out. and we sat in the vip section. it was easily the most mixed crowed I've ever seen at any show. Devo were definately into it that night and must of played for 3 hours. It was great.....the best things in life are unexpected!

Grace Jones at the Paradise Garage 25th anniversary in Central Park. I had stayed up all night boozing and taking in various other things, met my friends on the train at noon, and got to hang out and dance in the sun all beautiful day. Then Grace came onstage and rocked my house. And I mean, Rocked my House. That woman is a Force.

Late 80s, I'm not really sure. 88 or 89 ?

I just checked your profile, and saw you're from L.I. It was right on the east side of southside hospital. I think it's medical offices now.

Maceo Parker at the Crowbar in State College. Pure funk sets off some kind of primal butt wiggle in me. It can't be beat live and cannot be captured on a recording.

Gotta say Radiohead in Atlanta 2001.

Kid Koala and the Beta Band opened.

What makes it even more great is it capped off a week of concerts that included The Donnas, Warped Tour, and Janes Addiction... oooh, oooh yeah.

(The Super SGB weekend was great o cause I was hanging with all of my SG people all weekend in three different cities.. but I'd assume that was a given...)

yeah I'm a male groupie... but I get paid to go to scout concerts so there.

My best friend was at that concert. She considers it the best she's ever attended as well.

The Rolling Stons, AC/DC, The Guess Who, Rush. Tea Party, The Flaming Lips, Sam Roberts, The Blues Brothers, Justin Timberlake and a shit load of other bands. SARS STOCK in Toronto. Front fucking row outta 450 000 (largets concert ever in North America history) and I was in the front AND during Justin Timberlake I turn to my left to expect my freind, and who's standing there? Mick fucking Jagger. So of course I was like "HOLY FUCK! ITS MICK JAGGER!" he shook my freinds hand and I touched him and he said Hi before jumping over the barrier rail. love I loved it

Sadly enough I may have to say the Offspring the other night was my favourite!

Although I also loved seeing Elvis Costello in 2002 at the Birmingham Academy.

Depeche Mode at the Palace of Auburn Hills in 1990 and 1998. They're SO energetic, and they always get the crowd involved. How Dave and Martin make it feel like they're singing to just you, in a crowd of thousands of people, I'll never know.
