i've never been to a strip club, i'm curious as to what kind of music they play. strippers: what are the songs you like most (relatively)? or even the kind of music you'd prefer to dance to?

During a brief stint I had, I worked at a cool club that played alot of dance music, not just the standard hair rock. I loved when they'd play Jam and Spoon for me, because they do sexy trance music, and me and the foreign girls would go insane for it while the bleach-and-tan chicks would be like "huh"? Also in my rotation (excuse me if I don't know proper song titles): You Music Goes Better w/ You, I See You Baby (Shakin' That Ass), any ACDC, NIN Closer, and somehow Cowboy by Kid Rock snuck into the mix and it was actually fun to get down to.

I use a lot of industial and shock rock. Loud, energetic shit with a good beat.Over the course of my day, you'll almost always get: Ministry, NIN, Rammstein, Marylin Manson, Rob Zombie, Sister Machine Gun, Die Warzau, Wolfsheim, and a host of others. Plus the occasional cramps/Social Distortion/ Horton Heat set, and my own personal theme song, Bowling for Soup's The Girl All the Bad Guys Want.

Not so long ago I myslelf was a strip club dj here in SF. Now mind you the girls at this particular outfit were ethnically diverse so this holds no bearing on the choice cuts I'm about to name here. Mainly they brought in their own tunes and at the time it seemed like all i was playing was cuts off the latest Snoop Doggy Dog record, Justin Timberlake teamed up with Clipse, Destiny's Child, and at the other end of the spectrum it was all System of a Down.

Yeah I know.

One time I put on Ladytron and this chick flatly refused to dance to it. But in the words of the Russian dude who ran the place, "These women they are fucking animals."

I would tell the DJ what I wanted to dance to, and that became my music. He knew that I would move better on stage to the songs I prefered, so it was to his advantage to play them. For example, playing Whitesnake one time=me frozen and glaring. Not good for business!

The girls pick. DJs that play what they want get no tips.

You’re forgetting to mention what I’ve heard from many dancers. That would be the part about dancing on stage to your songs with out permission will result in nuclear war and planetary animation could occur if it was one of your signature songs. surreal

Yes, of course this is rule of thumb. But let us also not forget that uncooperative ladies get to dance through the loooongest songs ever.

Hahahaha, very true, been since when did it become "uncooperative" to not hand over $30 to the guy who's trying to get you in the back of his minivan? (in my case, anyway..... puke )

I go to Spearmint Rhino in Rialto, CA... 80% of the music seems to be hip-hop and r&b... other than that Static-X seems to be the popular choice

Hotel California Treatment! i gotta remember that one. did you also say the crystal chandelier name one too. hahaha...

btw... hip hop and r&b is perfect for strippin'. some are made to strip to. i think one of the classic strip anthem is tupac - how do you want it.

well i don't work at a club... but when we do bachelor parties, it's usually hip hop... i guess songs with a good beat to dance to. but i have my own strip mix, and it has everything from "change" by the deftones, to a little queens of the stone age, to "simply irresistable" biggrin
