Isn't this really the "how much do you hate Henry Rollins" thread?

I'll be different.

1. Henry Rollins
2. (fuck the rest)

I don't hate rollins. Although I don't really care for his newer stuff. I even enjoy a few Rollins Band records. Henrietta Collins and the Wifebeating Child haters is a classic.

Rudy_Stains #4 pick is actually Rollins but his real last name. I'm with you though, I do like the other singers but if it were not for Rollins I doubt we would even be discussing Black Flag today. Hank is the shit! I saw them in '84 and it was such a heavy experience for me, easily the most powerful punk show I've seen (and the list is very long). His early solo shows were also great. I would have to guess that the Rollins hating has more to do with the level of success he has achieved than anything else (I'm sure I will hear otherwise). I'm sure if he died after Slip It In, he would now be considered the god of hardcore punk. That kind of attitude reminds me of the time kids picketed a Social Distortion show because the band had signed to a major label surreal

I don't know any of Rollins' music, with his own band or Black Flag, but an old co-worker of mine burned me a copy of a Wiltern Theater spoken word show. He spoke at length about going to a modern-day Ratt show and all the baggage therein... one of the most hilarious things I've ever heard. What I like especially is his tendency to start on a topic, then sidetrack you with a bunch of "parenthetical notes," but he always brings it full circle and wraps it up with a bang.

didn't listen to much flag. wansn't old enough i guess. did listen to a lot of Rollins, though. his new stuff just fucking blows. Weight and Come in and Burn were so fucking aweseome, then he changed the band lineup and now it sounds like somebody's garage band with Rollins singing. bleh.

saw Hank a few weeks ago in DC for a talking show. been to a least half a dozen Rollins Band shows, but this was the first spoken word thing for me. it was hilarious.

1. Morris - the snottiness; he's America's Rotten
2. Dez - he just sounds so fuckin' pissed; especially when you compare the singers on "Police Story," where Dez felt the need to add a growled "fuck the cops"
3. Chavo - petulant
4. Rollins - I don't hate Rollins, but I don't listen to his stuff much nowadays... perhaps I'll have a change of heart someday. I used to love My War, I had a Loose Nut skateboard (it shattered very easily), Who's Got the 10 1/2? and Live '84 rocked okay, and "Armageddon Man" had me in hysterics.
Now that I've proven I know Henry-Flag, can I still be allowed to prefer Keith without being called a conformist? Graci! biggrin

Rollins without a doubt.

i agree with chrisnail, if Rollins hadn't joined Black Flag, we wouldn't be talking about them now.
