I saw them open for Sonic Youth a couple years ago. They had a couple songs I kind of dug, but I thought a lot of their set was painfully boring. I haven't heard anything the have recorded, so I don't know how they come across on their albums.
i could see how they could be boring. never seen em live actually got into them from a friend who saw them at all tommorrows party's/ (i think thats what its called) but the album is somewhat droning and repititive but thats thier whole sound. canadian groups rock......sorta.
they are pretty good, but i liked slant six way bettter.
casual dots is also better i think. mira is better on her own.
but that one song about trees and breeze is fucking killer.
Autoclave: good
Slant 6: amazing
Quix*o*tic: total shit
I really wanted to like because I love Slant 6. It didn't bother me that they sounded different from them, that wasn't the problem, the problem is the songs and the live show are bad. The giant bass drum thing is kind of a neat gimick, but I'd prefer if they played good songs. They might have a decent song here and there, but waiting for them to finish playing when I want to see some other band playing after them is torture.
I might like them a lot more if I'd never heard Slant 6, but they're far too much of a disappointment in comparison for me to really enjoy listening to them.
