Does anyone still listen to them? I just ripped my cd's (yes, RIAA, I own them) and have them on random, I think all thre albums show somehwat different stages, but are all great. I got into them long long ago, and my love for them hasn't faded... I think it's singer Harriet Wheeler's accent and vocals... its sweet to me, and at times deadly serious, all wrapt in that still voice.

"reading, writing and arithmatic" is in my personal top ten records of all time--songs that are so beautiful, i get tears...especially "my finest hour"....

harriet's voice is so bittersweet...i love all three albums, but the first one is by far my favorite. i still listen to the sundays all the time and love them just as much now as i did in high school...

the sundays make me happy smile

I love Harriet Wheeler's voice and remember when they guest hosted 120 minutes. I believe I still have that episode on VHS.

"Blind" is my favorite album, though I enjoy the other two quite a bit.

Harriet Wheeler has an almost perfect female voice. I haven't listened to the discs lately, but plan to put them into rotation this weekend.

her voice is great, and with that nice "Smiths-like" background melodies, you can't really go wrong. like the first album the best though.

That one song that goes "Here's where the story ends..." is pretty good. I'm not sure I've ever heard another one of their songs.

I love the Sundays.

Harriet had one of my favorite magazine quotes ever. I'm sure I'm quoting it wrong but it went something like.... "I'm tired of people saying we haven't grown since Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic. We've have 12 songs instead of 10 on Blind. How much more fucking progressive do we need to be?"

If you're a Sundays fan, you should check out Mira out of Jacksonville. I think they sound like Harriet backed by the cure.

I was working in a mall when "Summertime" came out.....and they piped it in through the mall PA over and over and over..........

But, I still like them. "Don't Tell Mother" is one of their best songs.

...when I am alone, I remember so well
how merrily I tripped a boy so he fell
and I could've been wrong, but I don't think I was
he was totally wild........

I've been listening to "Reading Writing and arithmetic" a lot this week. I bought the CD last weekend, I hadn't listened to the album in ages since the only copy I had on it was the cassette I taped off my friend about 15 years ago.

I had forgotten what a fantastic record this is. There is just something about female British singers.
