I second the Titus Andronicus and Ariel Pink nods, but by far my favorite from this year:
John Grant: Queen of Denmark.
Grant was the frontman for The Czars, which disbanded several years ago. The band Midlake coaxed him out of hiding and recorded this album with him. It was released on Bella Union in the UK and hasn't made much of a dent stateside. Grant just finished up a tour and put on some amazing shows.
Everyone should look it up if they get the chance. The album has a 70s-ish cleanness about it, but is largely driven by Grant's vocals and piano.
In no particular order:
Tom Jones- Praise and Blame
Grinderman- Grinderman 2
Willie Nelson- Country Music
Richard Thompson- Dream Attic
Elvis Costello- National Ransom

Oh, you are just going to judge me. I’m kidding – of course you are going to judge me – I don’t care. Once I find something I like I listen to it for months, so I didn’t buy much this year. Most of my favourite purchases this year were released before 2010. I know that’s cheating on a best of 2010 list.
Superchunk – Majesty Shredding
Broken Social Scene – Forgiveness Rock Record
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
Fucked Up – Epics in Minutes (2008)
The Aggrolites – IV (2009)
Sly and the Family Stone – Greatest Hits (year?)
The Meters – The Very Best of (1997)
I also bought the latest LPs from Spoon, Vampire Weekend, and some others, but couldn’t get into them much.
High Violet - The National So Runs the World Away - Josh Ritter The Suburbs - Arcade Fire Thistled Spring - Horse Feathers Hawk - Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan Grinderman 2 - Grinderman The ArchAndroid - Janelle Monae Brothers - The Black Keys Teen Dream - Beach House Odd Blood - Yeasayer
Far and away my favourite from this year is White Crosses by Against Me! best album I've heard for years and I now consider it in my all time top five.
Honourable mentions go to:
Chamberlain Waits - The Menzingers
The Dissent Of Man - Bad Religion
Cavalcade - The Flatliners
99 Songs Of Revolution - Streetlight Manifesto
Gogol Bordello - Trans-Continental Hustle

I wholeheartedly agree with almost 90% of this list.
My top five:
Los Campesinos! - Romance is Boring
The National - High Violet
Owen Pallett - Heartland
Stars - Five Ghosts
aaaand the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Soundtrack.
I didn't buy any albums for most of the year, but some of my favourites were:
Laura Marling - I Speak Because I Can
The National - High Violet
Gabby Young & Other Animals - We're All In This Together
Goldfrapp - Head First
I Am Kloot - Sky At Night
Frazey Ford - Obadiah
And I got Joanna Newsom's Have One On Me a few days ago. I've only listened to it all the way through once, but think it might be brilliant..
