Sitting here listening through it for the first time, it's really good. Grand and epic as one would expect from Matt and the boys.

Anybody else heard it yet and have thoughts?

And I am definitely catching them live this time around.

Yeah I hear you, I felt kinda the same when Black Holes came out, but it grew on me.

I would definitely say that this album is more in the vein of Black Holes.

I've only heard the first single, and I really like it.

They're excellent live.

Black holes at first only liked a song or two.. but it's actually a better album than Absolution quality wise once you give it a really good listen.. either way.. MUSE is fuckin' awesome.. I haven't heard this album yet but hope to soon! I also hope to see them in London in Nov. if I can make it out there..

One of the best, if not the best modern rock band in the last 5 years!

I am a massive massive Muse fan, and this album, upon first listening... just doesn't do it for me. I guess I just long for Origins of Symmetry and Absolution, where the music was so epic and beautiful. It seems less lovely now.

Very true. I just don't have the same immediate response to it that I used to. I don't like music I have to tryyyyyyyyyyy for. I like music to infect my body so that I have to turn up the song. I gave it a shot. I'll give it more than one shot though, cause it's Muse, and I love them.

Excellent.

Been a fan of Muse since I heard Muscle Museum all those years ago and I can say with reasonable confidence that Exogenesis is the best thing they have ever done.

i love being skeptical on the first listen because it means that the possibility of my love growning for it is very likely. i know muse is amazing, i just haven't locked into the vibe and the message of this new album. origin is my fav, absolution comes a close second, this new album doesn't have the spirit of either of those records, but i'm looking forward to figuring it out more and getting more into it.
i hated when death cab came out with plans, then it grew on me so much and became my favorite.
i bought the new muse cd along with the new thrice cd (which is amazing) and the two tongues cd (which is also amazing!). 3 great cds purchased in one day! oh ya, also along with 2 amazing dvds - simpsons 12 and the office 5!!!

Muse are one of those bands who do a lot of things somewhat decently, but always come across as a poor knockoff of whoever they are mimicking. Like, they're the best CD in a lot of really terrible music collections.

I'm not sure that I've found a stand out song on this album, not in the same way that Origins had Newborn and Plug in Baby, Absoloution had Time is Running Out and Hysteria and Black Holes had Knights of Cydonia. But it is very good. I'm going to have to give it another three listens. Maybe I'll find my stand-out yet.

Listening to it for the first time right now...so far it's really really good...I like that it has a few more hard songs than absolution just because his voice makes me fall down a dark rabbit hole if I listen to too much slow tempo muse-ness. confused

For me the 'standouts' would be MK Ultra & Unnatural Selection, assuming we're betting without Exogenesis as it's something else altogether.

Unfortunatley, the future singles appear to be The Resistance and Undisclosed Desires.

There aren't as many standout songs as previous albums but it's still plenty good.

Don't like it frown Too much piano (in itself not a bad thing, but not what a Muse album is usually about) way too spacey. None of the tracks are powerful enough to stand out. There are a couple of 'good' tracks on there and the rest very average.

Showbiz - Good
Origin Of Symmetry, Absolution - Fantastic
Black Holes And Revelations - Good
The Resistance - Average.

Let's hope the ditch the keys and pick the guitars back up for the next album.
