Vinyl has had a tumultuous history. The fact that people still buy, sell, and listen to vinyl is amazing. Personally, I love my record player and all of my vinyl albums. I keep hearing people referring to some resurgence of the popularity of vinyl, but I have yet to witness this myself. I know one other person besides myself who actually takes the time to listen to records. Anyway, so what was the last album you bought on vinyl? My answer... "Tales from the Cramps" by The Cramps.

Major Lazer - Guns Don't Kill People Lazers Do (Picture Disc)

I really only like 3 tracks on this and I think there's some real rubbish on there, my disclaimer is I bought it so I can could play them whilst djing, I still only use vinyl and have not yet succumbed to the digital ways.

Advance - Take me to the Top

Big fan of the early 80s disco/electrofunk, not the best example or the top of my wants list but I bid low and won it on ebay.

Last 10"

Dollskabeat - Zodiac Rising

A 2009 release by an artist local to where I am. Excellent moody electropop with a tasty instrumental cut on the flip.

Bat for Lashes - Pearl's Dream

Not actually opened this yet to hear the b-side, a sign of buying too much I suppose!

Love the vinyl, always have multiple carts on various sites, navigate cities by thier record shops, dj with vinyl only. Generally favourites are but not limited to; 80s metal, early 80s funk, experimental/ambient, mystical folk, jackin house, non soulless techno, a bit of bmore, anything I like enough to have the vinyl as a collectors piece. Maybe if it wasn't still the leading format when I started buying music, it would be a different story.

I saw a 3-disc "greatest hits" type thing by The Supremes, used for $15. I snatched it up, even though my record player doesn't work.

the beauty of this album is that it can only be properly listened to on vinyl. If you listen to this on CD you are not listening to the album the band intended people to hear. The liner has specific directions that you need to play this at 33 1/3 speed (which you can only do on vinyl).

On CD, it sounds good (not great). On vinyl, turned down, it is the most brain scorching music since Faust.

I had it on cassette when I was in high school, lost the cassette at some point. Saw it at a record shop recently as a re-issue, and couldn't resist. smile

There's a nice, broad spectrum of music represented here and all on vinyl! That's awesome.

I think the last vinyl I bought was Led Zeppelin IV in very good condition for ten dollars. What a find. I've only played it once, as I don't want to damage it!

A Cramps live album, actually. Friday, once my local record store gets it, I'll be picking up "Assjack", Hank III's first released Metal Album.

Personally, in my experience, Vinyl has had a surge in popularity recently; a great many of the people I know have a collection, and there are two amazing record stores within 5 blocks of my apartment in Fargo.
I love the sound of it; a friend and I have been puttign together a collection over the past year and have amassed over 100 so far. Its great smile The only problem is that its addicting; it seems like the more music I get, I suddenly realize there are so many more that I need to get!
