Sorry that no one has responded to your thread. I heard when GNR made it big, Izzy didn't know what to do with all his money so he built a full go-kart track in his back yard.

No, Izzy left when GNR became too much like Spinal Tap. I liked his first solo record, never heard the second. Or any of Slash's "Snakepit" records either.

I was looking forward to the new GNR-sans-Axl project, but Scott Weiland fucked that up as usual.

O.K....Izzy's records are all very good , much stones/Faces/Hanoi Rocks, you can see where the rocknroll came from in GunsnRoses. GunsnRoses where a full on Joneses/Hanoi rip-off, and the rich get richer...

I have Izzy Stradlin and The Ju Ju Hounds first CD and Slash's Snakepit's its five o'clock somewhere CD. Both are good but seem very dated now. smile

personally, stuff like the ju ju hounds, dogs d'amour and the london quireboys are great but the production values they used ruin it. seriously, any rock record made before 1991 and many afterward suffers from the same icky 80's hair metal mix (i.e. super compressed, flat drum sound, reverb-y vocals etc.) at least the guitar sounds were good.

Don't mean to bump my own post, but that first Izzy Stradlin record is wonderful.. if the Stones had made a good album in the past 15 years, that's what it would've sounded like. The production is "live" sounding too.. very unlike the Guns and Roses epic style shit.

Seriously.. it may sound unbelievable that a Guns and Roses offshoot would make a great solo record, but it happened. And, yes, I fucking hate Slash's snakepit.

Look in used CD bins for this record, buy it for a few bucks, listen to "Shuffle it all" and "Somebody's Knocking", and tell me I'm wrong smile

Izzy Stradlin WAS GnR, in my opinion. And GnR was the coolest band in the world for about 6 months, before Izzy departed. I used to come home from class with my friends, buy a bottle of bourbon, and listen to the first record over and over.......Interestingly, I bought the GnR record during the same record store visit at which I bought the first Dinosaur Jr. record. Got my money's worth with those two....
