Firstly my apologies if this was already done, I had a quick scan and didn't spot anything similar other than an album list.

Anywho, what was your anthem/tune of 2008, and why?

For example, for myself, it would be Guru Josh Project - Infinity 2008.
Guru Josh Project - Infinity 2008 - (Deezer.com)

Unfortunately as 2008 faded out this tune got stolen by chavs and played so much everyone became sick of it but for me it remains my tune of 2008 as it gave me hope for 2009 and reminded me of all the good times I had had early 2008 before a large number of close friends left the company I was working for and moved away.

Due to this association it has an elemenent of melancholy for me, but I love it none the less as it reminds me of a life more simple that I secretly long for once more but is sadly now out of reach.

So, what song of 2008 do you love and that pulls your heartstrings far more than it outwardly should?

And yes, my main intention is to farm new songs and artists to listen to tongue But I also find fascinating the way different, often random, songs end up being associated with events and emotions.

"Ash" by Murder by Death was played far more often by me than any other song by any other band in 2008. Though, if I had discovered "Hymn #101" by Joe Pug a few months earlier, it'd be close.

Oddly, neither of my two big anthems for the year came out in 2008 smile

1) Space Oddity by David Bowie

Me and some friends got hooked on Bowie, hard core, this summer, and Space Oddity was seemed to be playing in the car, being sung by us, or stuck in our heads at any given moment. Ah, can't go wrong with Bowie.

2) Super String Theory - GoGol Bordello

Another song that was in heavy rotation in my apartment and car this summer. To this day, if anyone in the group mutters "Canal Street Bling", someone else with begin to sing "I don't read the Bible (BIBLE!)" and so forth.

Constructive Summer by The Hold Steady.

Why it's my tune of '08 is because of what I've come to associate it with. The whole year, I'd been saying that I was going to do something with myself, but it was lost in a haze of parties, coasts, and jail.

So it goes.

Against Me! - Trash Unreal

Heavy rotation since September, plus a short relationship with a girl who reminded me so much of that song
