I actually liked the Louise-only disc.

But yeah, Stacey really got shafted. Not to mention Steve Lack, who was in the band from the beginning and got the boot as well.

Stacy was in Letters to Cleo and started American Hi Fi, so I don't think he got "shafted". love love love

Stacey did ok for himself though........he made the rounds of the female fronted Boston bands. I know he played with Letters to Cleo for a while, and he toured with Tanya Donelly in support of her first solo album.

I met Louise after a show they did in Chicago at the Riv before American Thighs came out. what a sweetie. I think I still have my "Seether" clear, orange vinyl 7" too. VS were great before the split.

I dig the hell outta them. I have a great article on them in the August '97 Bikini mag (grrrreat cover photo of Nina & Louise) and the interviewer asked who "Benjamin" is about and Nina said, "Benjamin Netanyahu." Cracks me up every time.
I kept trying to buy Blow It Out Your Ass, It's Veruca Salt on EBay and getting outbid... my Five Favorite Songs are: 1. "Shutterbug" 2. "Awesome" 3. "Number One Blind" 4. "Straight" 5. "Seether"

Actually, I really liked the Nina Gordon solo album. It was much poppier than Veruca Salt but the songs were very strong. I wonder what she is up to these days. It's been 4 or 5 years since that album came out.

This thread inspired me to look into that... she's about to record for a new album.. and it looks like she took quite a long break.. and then just recently started playing shows again pretty regularly in the Los Angeles area.

Blow It Out Your Ass...was great. Pretty interesting too, since Steve Albini referred to Nina and Louise as "pandering sluts" to the Chicago music scene. They must have kissed and made up.

Also, anyone ever see the Pavement video for "Painted Soldiers" where Spiral Stairs directs Veruca Salt for a video in which they lip-sync the song. anyways...

shutterbug was my favorite song in the whole world for a really long time. that band had a really great dynamic. i saw them open for bush and i was in love. i totally saw both their nips. it was great. that nite i bought 8 arms to hold cd and a tshirt. then about a week later i went and bought the rest of their stuff that i could find.

there are about five damn good songs on 8 arms. "Sound of the Bell" is my personal fav. Otherwise, some of the material is flat while overproduced. whatever

I saw (still have) an interview they did with Matt Pinfield. He asked what it was like working with Steve; Nina said the first thing he did was tell an extremely offensive joke to see if they were easily-offended "debutantes." Apparently, judging the EP title, they weren't.
Steve works with people he hates all the time, so... dunno what their opinions of each other were, ultimately. In that interview, they seemed pleased with him.

That Pavement video sounds fantastic!! Must remember to pick up A Slow Century when I get a DVD player...

That's so weird. I've had Shutterbug stuck in my head for most of today.
