okay, this was very strange. I've been listening to Control Denied for about a week straight...but I've been missing one track on this CDR I've had for quite some time. So I downloaded it again, and subsequently also ordered a used copy off of gemm.com...

the only Death album i own is their first album, Scream Bloody Gore...I was / am planning on hitting up the record store to hopefully pick up some other albums...

but anyways, after reading up some on the All Music Guide. I read that he died 2 years ago today....

I'm a bit creeped out, but in a good way.

Yeah, Chuck had a long struggle with brain cancer. He had recorded part of a new Control Denied album right before he died and there's a struggle going on between his mom and the other guys in the band about what part, if any, should be released.

Death's "Human" album is a death metal classic. You should definitely get that one

Chuck Schuldiner was a genious way ahead of his time. Everything from the lyrics to musicianship to the song stuctures was top notch and holds up to the test of time. Death's albums "Leprosy", "Spiritual Healing", "Human" and "Individual Thought Patterns" are classics that any fan of anything from Metallica to Pantera to Slipknot to Chimaira should own.

Maybe he's one of those musicians who doesn't get the proper recognition until after his premature death (no pun intended)

RIP Chuck

One of my biggest heroes. I've been trying to learn all of the death stuff on guitar. I wish he hadnt died, its such a tragedy and Dime as well, one of my favourite bands of all time. Like Edea said, anyone who likes metal and hasnt heard death should listen to them.

i don't recall Death releasing a bad album. sure, some of the earliest ones aren't all polished or amazing or as good as the ones following but still.

i had my chance to see Death blocked because of the 18+ rule here in new orleans. that sucked. i was less than a month from turning 18. all my tricks of sneaking in were blocked.

and then death never toured again. and then chuck died. fuck.

i wasn't that into control denied but chuck rocked and was awesome and i miss him.

That sucks you couldnt go and see them! I never got to either. Yeah I just dint really like the powermetal vocals of control denied as much as death but the guirars were still awsome. So fucking sad, such a waste that he died. Listening to 'Symbolic' now, its such a good album.

Amazing album, like all of them. I think Death were one of the nearest to perfect metal bands.

Individual thought Patterns was and still is the most incredable death metal album of all times.Chuck Schuldiner was the reson there were so many good death bands back then cause everyone looked up to him and his unique style and when he passed away death metal become total crap. Thank god there still bands like Soilwork, Mnemic and In Flames so i still enjoy metal. I seen death 14 times and the best combo was Chuck, Steve on bass and Gene on drums on individual tour.

RIP Chuck

14 times! Unreal, I really envy you for that.
