I think I'd have to go with a tie between Cypress Avenue and TB Sheets.

wow im amazed anyone on here likes VM. I dont like his music at all -well im gonna try out astral weeks soon. its funny because I know van pretty well, and he knows that I dont like his music and thats how we became friendly. ha.

Why would you be "amazed" no one here would like Van? That's a pretty broad brush to paint a cross section of people with. Scan the music boards. There is an awfully diverse group of interests. Van fits in pretty well with a lot of us, I think....

Anything from the Marin County period - Snow Fell on San Anselmo is about my hometown. His parents owned the local record store and his dad was a big influence on my musical tastes.

All of Astral Weeks.

Much of Moondance.

Live version of "Caravan" from The Last Waltz.

Covers:
"The Way Young Lovers Do" by Jeff Buckley.
"Jackie Wilson Said" by Dexy's Midnight Runners.

Edited to add: I haven't heard the LP Common One but I once saw a bunch of great musicians asked about Van Morrison, and many of them listed "Summertime in England" as their fave of his.

It's all about Gloria. course that isn't just a Van Morrison song, Them. favorite song by just him. either Into the Mystic, or St. Dominic's Preview. jesus murphy there's too many awsome songs by him that it's wrong to just have one favorite. i remember wanting to get a tattoo of him. hrmm. maybe i'll ressurect that idea.

"Summertime in England" is maybe my favorite piece of recorded music ever.

"Common One," the album it's on, is perhaps his best single work.

Just wanted to add-- I dig the hell out of Astral Weeks side one (hard to play just one song on it) and "Blue Money, a song I didn't even think of when this thread first came up, but the first thing I started singing upon seeing this thread tonight was:
