Elliott Smith's "Independence Day." It's so beautiful, and Ican't learn to play it for the life of me.

I've seen a few tabs, and it's not easy. Elliott was a way better guitar player than I think a lot of people realize.

He and Jeff Buckley both.

I've hacked my way through "Independence Day", and it's possibly (a) multitracked guitar and/or (b) not in standard tuning, because it's certainly a sonofabitch to make it sound like he makes it sound.

What's the criteria for "indie" here? I keep seeing a bunch of bands on major labels, and bands that existed pre-indie in the contemporary sense, listed.

Oh and there's that solo on the Bored! record with the Taxi Driver coverart where it sounds like it's just killing your speaker. I like that one.

I'd almost guarantee that about 95% of those tabs are wrong too because nobody figures his shit out right. I've played guitar for the better part of my life and Smith's guitar playing still gives me apoplexy. Not to mention the fact that he's one of the best home recording artists in recent history.

Edit: I missed thefuckoffkid's comment: it's definitely multi-tracked, but each track is a bitch on it's own.
