Mars Volta was my vote on the "Worst Live Band" thread.
I'm not a big fan ofthem either. The singer's voice gives me a headache (literally) within about 5 minutes of listening to it. I think it is at that right pitch to get to me.

I passed on seeing them live last year. I regret it now.
relationship of command is probably the best thing any of those guys have ever done. wiretap scars comes in a close second, but sparta gets negitive points for the new cd. I bought the new sparta without even listening to it and I felt like someone had taken a warm, thick shit in each of my shoes and I had been walking around in them all day. total let down.
I'd love to see the Mars Volta live. It doesn't bother me when a band jams for a long time in concert. I saw Tool and they had this 20min jam with interpretive dancers and it was one of the best shows I've been to.
I saw them a little over a year ago -- they were playing this hole in the wall club by me on one of their nights off with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. John Fruscante even played guitar with them.
I thought they were really good if you're into them. I like the fact that they're doing something new and not milking what they did in At the Drive-In. If you go to see them expecting them to be At the Drive-In you'll probably be disappointed.
