also has anyone heard about a band called Hepcat? I've been trying to find their stuff online, but haven't come up with anything, with the exception of youtube.

Hepcat is amazing. They have a myspace page. I'd post a link, but myspace doesn't seem to be working for me right now. So just look them up on there. If you are able to buy an album from them, I suggest starting out with "Right On Time", its their best.

Gregory Lee, the lead singer of Hepcat, and I are good friends. We were hanging out yesterday and talking about the scene. They're going to start gigging again next month.

Anyone remember The Untouchables? They're also here in LA. Jerry Miller is also a good buddy.

favorite would be Eek-a-mouse and most any song off his Wa Do Dem remastered album is amazing. Desmond Dekker and the Skatalites are classics. King Tubby's some great dub, of course. Culver City Dub Collective is also amazing.

Bobby Ellis and The Professionals - Militant Salute
Dandy Livingstone - Suzanne Beware of The Devil
Dandy and The Brother Dan All Stars - The Race is on
Prince Buster - Wash Wash
Dandy - Trouble in The Town
The Hot Rod All Stars - Skinheads Don't fear
Toots and The Maytals - Peeping Tom
The Ethiopians - Hang On
Clancy Eccles - Fatty Fatty
Desmond Decker - Madgie
Soul Vendors - The Whip
The Revolutionaries - Dub You Know
The Pioneers - pretty much everything

It's way more than that, but that's all I could think of off the top of my head. These may not necessarily be their best songs, just my personal favorites.

They still kick ass. If they ever go on the road again I'll suggest to Greg that they swing your way.

Also tell Greg to come up to Seattle, WA. I have only seen Hepcat live once, and that was 10 years ago in 1998. I need a live Hepcat fix. If they do come up here they should play with Seattle's best Ska band The Georgetown Orbits.

The Specials -- Little Bitch
The Suicide Machines -- I'm not really sure. "Stand Up" is pretty cool. The old stuff is more ska though.
Reel Big Fish (Yeah, yeah, I know.) -- I Want Your Girlfriend

Five Iron Frenzy is pretty cool too.

I could've written this list myself! Agreed.
