I am so glad I came to Chicago for Pitchfork this year. I came for Jarvis. I saw Jarvis. It was better than sex.
Jarvis made eye contact with me for a good thirty seconds. He locked eyes with me, he pointed directly at me, and he sang, "Girls like it too." I do, Jarvis, I do. ("Girls like it too" was John Peel's sex advice. It was in a letter he wrote to his little brother.)
Jarvis is so beautiful. He's a pasty, English sex GOD. I love him so much. You can bet I sang along with him when he sang, "I wanna be your lover." Oh, I wish he had pointed at me then, too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know I'm being terribly fangirly, but Jarvis Cocker is my Elvis. I look at those old videos of girls screaming at the Beatles, and I know how they felt. So did several hundred other girls, going by the estrogen-heavy SCREAMS, especially when he removed his jacket and when he did, oh god, pelvic thrusts RIGHT IN MY FACE. I could have died happily right then. He's so sexy. I love it when he says dirty words!! I am happy there were other people who shouted out, "I love you, Jarvis!!!!" Some of them were even guys.
1:09, baby, 1:09. I think he did it because I was clutching my hand to my chest like a tard, like I was going to recite the goddamn pledge of allegiance or I was trying to keep my heart from beating right out of my chest, I don't know which.
Edit: Sorry for the double post! I found this and got really excited.
Great to see so much love for Jarvis. He is the main reason why I went to Coachella last year so that's awesome you got to see him in Chicago. The highlight of his Coachella performance was "I Will Kill Again." Did he bless the crowd with that masterpiece at Pitchfork?
I used to live in London and if you want to a good chance at bumping into Jarvis Cocker hang out on Upper Street in Islington.
The first time I met him he was at Vulture Video getting a DVD to rent. Nice bloke and while not super chatty in a lineup (understandable really), he did take the complement I gave him for Pulp concert I had gone to years before very well and shook my hand.
