Oh! I love the Residents. Just not the mole stuff... I loved Meet the Residents and Eskimo. Best two albums. They are incredibly interesting and fun. Totally underrated.
i don't think you could miss 'freak show' either. oh another thing to love about the commercial album is the bonus cover of 'jailhouse rock'. SO GOOD!!
cheers! i agree there are some good "tracks" on that album, but overall it is kind of weak. besides out of 40 or so songs i should think it would have a couple goods ones on it. however, i wouldn't classify it as a "best of" though.
Duck Stab is one of my all time favorites- if you're a residents fan, do yourself a favor and get it. it's catchy as hell... Wormwood (the one they based off stories from the Bible) is pretty good too.
On a related topic, how many of you have seen them in concert?

commercial album is still my favorite.

oh and yes. I went to eat at the house of blues YEARS ago and had no idea what the hell the show was. But....it was memorable. odd how things like that come back later in life.

*raises hand* saw the Demons Dance Alone tour at the Chicago House of Blues. Great show, except for the obvious gripe that they only played stuff from that album (with the exception of 'From the Plains to Mexico'), and i'm a much bigger fan of their early 'classic' period; but then of course their concerts are meant to be thematic... i digress.... definitely catch them live if you get the chance!
i join in the chant and recommend 'icky flix'... although some of the visuals (which i'm sure were groundbreaking when they debuted) are quite dated now, it's an excellent summary of their career thus far. the 'hello skinny' & 'songs for swinging larvae' videos still give me the willies
