I was in the shittiest mood all day today, when I heard he had died. Now I've heard there was an album made by various artists covering his songs. Anyone know this one? I need to add it to my collection of his material. What also sucks is that just last night I saw him on the cover of Enquierer, I hate that fucking zine, even tho I always look at it, when I'm in line at the grocery store. R.I.P. Mr. Cash, I need to call my mom and cry with her...wishicould- have known you better...

I can't quote any lyrics, or make some kind of pun, or anything. I'm just utterly devastated. Yeah. I don't know what else to say.

even though tons of people are going to jump on the bandwagon since he died, its cool. Everyone deserves to be exposed to the magic of his voice and music no matter the circumstances. His songs helped me through many dark times, and they will continue to until I get to rest.

He continued to make edgy music right up until the end. He will be missed.

And screw MTV, he was way above those dumb awards anyway. Let them stick to their flavor of the month hip-pop and watered down punk-crock.

I just saw the video for hurt. Very moving. I'm still crying. Really I've already said everything I could say about him on the music forums that I moderate and it seems silly to go on about how incredibly sad I feel on here. He was a great man, and an amazing artist. He was 71 years old and we all have to go at some point. I just childishly believed he'd cheat death. Legends never die. Very romantic that he followed June so quickly. Rest in peace.

Damn, this brings back memories frown

I remember waking up before class, turning on the news in my old apartment (my FAVORITE apartment, as a matter of fact) and seeing the news. Hit me like John Henry's sledge hammer in the gut. I was depressed for the next two days.
It really hadn't been much of a surprise, what with June going a few months earlier, I'd almost been expecting it. But, one some level, I think I expected a man as tough as that to be immortal.
Interesting; I remember it being an early fall that year too; and now, five years later, we're having an early fall again. Or, so I remember it; for some reason I seem to remember those two days blanketed by clouds and dreary.

Damn. And I played last night and don't think I even did one of his songs, and that almost NEVER happens.frown

The night he died I sat in with a band (Mad Hatter) and sang "Folsom Prison Blues" at the Silver Moon.

I"m suddenly bluer than I was a minute or two ago.frown
