Indie-garage-experimental-dance-punk outfit Les Savy Fav are known for their crazy live shows and burly, cross-dressing, energetic front man Tim Harrington, but they turned over performance duties to their fans when they announced a contest carrying a prize of $1,000 and a special on-stage appearance for the fan who could film the best video for their new single, "Equestrian." Many tried, but the prize ultimately went to a video featuring a heartbreakingly cute little girl named Bunny. In said video, Bunny and her stuffed animals tear shit up and rock the fuck out. She screams into a toy microphone, rides a horsey, makes some plastic animals kiss, knocks stuff over, and generally captures Les Savy Fav's good times rock and roll spirit. See for yourself!

The adorable pictures of her hanging with the band can be found on the myspace blog of she who can only be described as the coolest mom ever. In addition to raising an awesome kid, Rockin Mama is a Brooklyn-based photographer whose work can be viewed here. She's also kind of foxy. Say what you want about evil hip-spawn, but you are probably just jealous that a five-year-old has better hair and taste in music than you. She will probably start a band by the time she's six and subsequently sign with Matador, beating out the Smoosh girls by a good few years. So long as she manages to stay away from the drugs offered to her by the other child rock stars trying to bring her down (that's right, Smoosh, I'm onto your pre-emptive plans), she should be golden.

And if you've never heard Les Savy Fav, go listen to their new songs now! You will like them, provided you don't hate fun.

The dude is crazy. He gave scissors to people in the crowd to cut at his long hair as he's slamming it over them. I turned around, got my drink, was looking for a friend...he's not on stage. He's apparently gone through the crowd, climbed a railing, and is crawling on the bar, blowing out candles when he's not singing. Ooop. Time to pick up the drink before he does.

Great video.

if you are going to sample les savy fav for the first time, however, i don't recommend their latest album. it's kind of subpar and boring. i would go with the cat and the cobra or go forth. inches works too, i guess.

I really like what I've heard of the new one. The spaz dance video is really nice, too.

Cat and the Cobra remains my favorite though. I just hope I get to see them this time around.

Come skating on the autobahn, boys!

i like a couple of songs off it so far, but it's not hitting me either, really. then again, it seriously took me like four years to enjoy go forth. the five songs from rome (written upside down) are still the best things they've ever done, i think.
