I'm looking for music that I don't have to buy the rights to for use in several videos I'll be making because I'm poor and can't be bothered to figure out how to do so. It doesn't matter what kind of music it is -- folk, metal, rap, bluegrass, jazz, whatever -- I can probably find a use for it.

I won't be selling them, they'll just be weird videos I do for my amusement or video journals, etc. You probably won't get fame or fortune, but I'll give you credit and link to your site if you have one. Just keep in mind that I'm pretty twisted, so if you want a sparkling reputation, don't give me permission to use your songs.

Also, for those of you who know about this sort of thing:

Should I still get something in writing saying that these bands are letting me use their songs in exchange for credit due?

Yes.

What type of videos are you making? Are they for personal use or are you going to be selling them? If you're going to be selling them, who are you going to be selling them to? I'm confused by this whole idea.
