Max Roach, one of the most important percussionists in history died today at the age of 83.

One of the first bop drummers, Roach was a member of several of the most important groups of the time, including the Quintet that recorded Jazz at Massey Hall, often named the greatest live jazz recording ever.

RIP. I have so much stuff with him on it, because he really played with everybody. But I'm gonna play Money Jungle now (Ellington/Mingus/Roach).
